I couldn’t put this book down. Such a powerful story and the way she overcame the obstacles in her life is an incredible inspiration to others. It takes so much courage to be this vulnerable. I am a better person after reading it. It made me reflect on my own journey and made me realize how truly blessed I am. It is a must read!

This book gave me goosebumps, as the heartfelt look at mother-daughter dynamics resonated with me deeply. If I become a parent one day, I'll look back fondly on this piece of writing. I’m in awe of Linda Sanchez's idea that parental leadership should encompass "slowing down" and "listening first", challenging the traditional model of control. Her acknowledgement that good parenting means owning up to your own mistakes, felt especially powerful to me. I also got chills when Sanchez wrote, "Now, she was building a different kind of table," because I believe parent-child relationships built on mutual respect is something to be cherished. goes here

I think most parents and children go through something similar to what's here. My mother and I did. There just comes a moment of misunderstanding where neither side is willing to back down and pride forces a disconnect that could last for a long time; too long often, in fact. What Elena goes through here is not unique, but her path away from it is inspiring. She starts to take direction from her intuition and letting what is almost spiritual unfold without trying to control things, thereby bringing her back into a state that some would call faith, other's "flow" towards what even she might have tried to ignore was actually her ultimate goal.

In this personal and religious memoir, Linda tells us the story of her life, starting when she was a toddler lost in the streets of Guadalajara to her adoption and life in the United States where she becomes the person she was meant to be. In sharing her story, she’s allowing herself to be vulnerable for everyone to see, which takes great strength. I don’t normally read memoirs and I really don't like reading anything faith-based, but I found this one to be interesting and full of hope. I would’ve liked more information on Linda’s childhood and her relationship with her adopted parents—this part interested me the most—but the story flowed well from one significant life moment to the next.
